Pilot terms for teachers
Draft for the pilot. This document is still being reviewed; highlighted text is not decided yet. Version 2026-10-pilot-draft-3.
Thank you for helping us try SpeedGrade. These terms explain what the pilot is and what you agree to by joining. They sit alongside our privacy policy and our school data processing agreement.
What the pilot is
- SpeedGrade is in an early pilot. Features will change, some things will go wrong, and we will ask for your feedback.
- SpeedGrade suggests grades; it does not decide them. Multiple-choice scores come from your answer key. Written answers and handwriting are read and scored by AI, which can be wrong. You review and approve every grade before it goes back to Google Classroom or into a spreadsheet, and you remain responsible for the grades you give.
- New accounts get free grading credit. Prices are on our website.
Your school's permission
By joining, you confirm that:
- Your school or district has agreed to SpeedGrade (by signing our school data processing agreement or the NDPA), or it has allowed you to use SpeedGrade with your students' work. We ask for your school's name so we can follow up with them.
- If any of your students are under 13, your school has authorised using SpeedGrade for their schoolwork.
- You use SpeedGrade only for classes you teach, and only for school purposes.
We suggest starting with a test class or a single assignment while you get to know SpeedGrade.
Student data
- We handle student work as our privacy policy and school agreement describe: only to provide grading to you and your school, never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models.
- We store a coded id for each student, not their name; names are shown to you from Classroom while you're looking.
- Student work you grade with AI is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, with the name line blanked out. When you scan a paper without choosing the student, an image of just the name line is sent so the handwritten name can be read and matched to your class list. Names aren't stored.
During the pilot
A few things our privacy policy describes are not yet buttons in the app. Until they are, we do them for you:
- Deleting a class's data, or all your data: write to [email protected] and we will delete it within 30 days and confirm in writing.
- Disconnecting Google: remove SpeedGrade under Third-party apps & services in your Google Account settings. We stop using the connection straight away.
- Exporting grades: use the spreadsheet download on any assignment.
- While SpeedGrade is in Google's testing stage, Google asks you to sign in again every 7 days.
Leaving the pilot
You can stop using SpeedGrade at any time. Write to [email protected] if you'd like your account and your classes' data deleted.
Changes
If we change these terms, the privacy policy or the school agreement, we will ask you to read and accept them again the next time you sign in.
